    Château Latour-Martillac Pessac-Léognan Blanc 2020
  • Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon are the grape varieties behind this interesting white Bordeaux from the Pessac-Léognan area. This, it should be remembered, is one of the few areas of Bordeaux where, in addition to red wines, interesting dry white wines are also produced. Matured in part in new barrels, about 25%, this white presents itself in the glass of a beautiful deep yellow colour with reflections reminiscent of gold. On the nose, the bouquet is pleasantly aromatic and rich with notes of white-fleshed fruit, citrus fruits and delicious hints of exotic fruit. In the mouth, the fruit is bright and tasty. Well supported by a nice freshness and an equally pleasant roundness, it flows into an intense saline finish. Excellent as an aperitif, it is perfect with raw seafood and to accompany tasty baked fish.

Château Latour-Martillac takes its name from a tower in the castle's main courtyard. This is the last remaining intact part of a fortress dating back to the 12th century, controlling the road from Bordeaux to Toulouse. Owned by the Kressmann family since 1871, Château Latour-Martillac was awarded the title of Cru Classé des Graves for red and white wines in 1953. Today, the property is managed by Tristan and Loïc Kressmann, who have a total vineyard area of 54 hectares, of which 45 are dedicated to red wine and 9 to white. The property, in an exceptional position within the appellation, is located on the Martillac plateau, where the soils are very varied but rich in gravel. Perfect soils for growing Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. White grape varieties, on the other hand, are found near the Garonne, where the soils are richer in clay and limestone.
