      Château Mont-Pérat Bordeaux Blanc 2022
    • Château Mont-Pérat, in the heart of the Entre-Deux-Mers region, between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers, combines tradition and innovation. The region benefits from a temperate oceanic climate, with hot summers and mild winters, which favours optimal ripening of the grapes. This Bordeaux Blanc, produced by Château Mont-Pérat, is a dry white wine made from a blend of 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Sémillon. The Sauvignon Blanc brings freshness and aromatic notes of citrus fruits, while the Sémillon contributes body and complexity to the wine. The process begins with a manual harvest that guarantees the selection of the best grapes. After harvesting, the grapes are pressed at a low temperature in a controlled environment with nitrogen to prevent oxidation. The must is then transferred to steel tanks to cool for a few days. Subsequently, two thirds of the must is fermented in oak barrels. The ageing process continues for ten months in wood, giving the wine structure and complexity. The Bordeaux Blanc from Château Mont-Pérat has a brilliant straw yellow colour. On the nose, aromas of candied lemon and smoked verbena emerge. In the mouth it is direct, with a good consistency and a salty finish that invites you to take another sip. Its freshness and minerality make it ideal as an aperitif or to accompany vegetarian dishes.

In the heart of the Bordeaux region, and more precisely in the municipality of Capian, lies the historic Château Mont-Pérat. Once known as Domaine du Peyrat, this château boasts a long winemaking tradition, with mentions dating back to the second edition of Féret in 1864. Located on the right bank of the Garonne, opposite the Graves region, the vineyard covers about 102 hectares of clay-limestone soil, a characteristic that contributes to the production of high quality wines. Since 1998, the property has been managed by the Despagne family, a dynasty with over two centuries of experience in the world of wine. Under their guidance Château Mont-Pérat has achieved a good international reputation, particularly after being featured in the Japanese manga ‘Les Gouttes de Dieu’, where the 2001 vintage was compared to a Queen concert. This has led to a significant increase in demand, especially in Asian markets.
