Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle Vallée d’Aoste DOC 2023
    • A white from Prié Blanc, produced by Cave Mont Blanc de Morgex et La Salle. A true celebration of the valley's indigenous grape variety. The vineyards are located around Morgex, a small commune situated at an altitude of between 900 and 1200 metres, at the foot of the Mont Blanc massif. This area is characterised by extreme climatic conditions. The vines grow on rocky and sandy soils, in an alpine environment, with large temperature variations between day and night, favouring a slow ripening of the grapes, enhancing freshness, acidity and finesse. Thanks to its isolated location and the absence of phylloxera, Prié Blanc is cultivated on a free-range basis, one of the few vines in Europe not grafted onto American roots. This gives the wines produced, a purity and identity that are fully reflected in the glass. Typical white vinification, without maceration of the must on the skins, after processing, the wine is then aged for several months in stainless steel, to preserve the freshness and fragrance of the fruit, without the influence of wood. Clear in colour, typical for the variety, the nose reveals floral and fruity aromas, with hints of exotic fruits that add an intriguing touch to the wine's aromatic complexity. In the mouth, it is fresh and savoury, with a pleasant citrus note that underlines its liveliness. The acidity is bright and the minerality pleasant. Perfect to accompany delicate dishes, it goes well with mountain trout fillet, a typical dish of the Aosta Valley, it can also accompany well a raclette, a dish made of melted cheese.

There are few places as fascinating as the vineyards of the Aosta Valley. Here, the definition of ‘heroic viticulture’ takes on a whole new meaning. Cave Mont Blanc is one of the best known and most appreciated in the area. It is a magical place, dominated by the great Mont Blanc, the warm colour of slate and the pergolas of Priè Blanc, still cultivated on a free-range basis, resting on the stones that climb up the mountain to over 1,200 metres. After all, the Cave Mont Blanc guards the secret of the highest vineyards in Europe. It does this thanks to the commitment of around 80 members who produce no more than 140,000 bottles each year.
