"Pietrabianca" Castel del Monte DOC BIO 2023
    • The Castel del Monte DOC is one of the most prestigious in Apulia, covering around 1,500 hectares between the provinces of Bari, Barletta-Andria-Trani and Foggia. Here, the territory is characterised by a Mediterranean climate, with hot summers and mild winters, and clay-limestone soils, which give the wines a particular structure and minerality. Here Tormaresca produces Pietrabianca, a white wine from Chardonnay (90%) and Fiano (10%) grapes, organically grown on the Bocca di Lupo estate in the municipality of Minervino Murge, in the province of Bari. The Chardonnay grapes are harvested by hand and vinified in steel at a controlled temperature. The Fiano, on the other hand, is fermented separately, again in steel, to bring out its notes of freshness and acidity. At the end of the transformation, the two parts are blended and then follows a further 6 months of bottle ageing before final release. Pietrabianca has a brilliant yellow colour with greenish highlights. The nose amazes with its tropical notes of pineapple and lychee, combined with hints of orange blossom and peach. Fresh, citrus sensations and hints of hazelnut and vanilla complete the complex bouquet. In the mouth it is vibrant, with good freshness and great structure. The finish is pleasantly savoury. Good today, this white has discrete ageing potential. A versatile white, it goes well with a wide range of dishes. Perfect with fish starters, white meats and seafood dishes.

Tormaresca: great wines from indigenous Apulian vines. Passion, courage and faith in the enormous quality potential of Apulia are what drove the Antinori family to invest in this region, particularly in the areas of Castel del Monte and Salento. Most of the vineyards are cultivated with traditional grapes, some of which date back to the civilisation of Magna Graecia, and are strongly rooted in the territory: Primitivo, Negroamaro, Fiano pugliese, Aglianico, Nero di Troia and Moscato Reale. The Tormaresca winery consists of two estates located in the areas most suited to the region's wine-growing tradition: Tenuta Bocca di Lupo, in the Castel del Monte DOC area, immersed in the wild Murgia of Bari, and Masseria Maime, in the Salento area, the beating heart of Apulia.
