In south-eastern Piedmont, between Ovada and the Colli Tortonesi, in the province of Alessandria, the white grape par excellence is called Cortese. "Corteis", as Count Nuvolone, deputy director of the Agrarian Society of Turin, calls it in a quote from the end of the 18th century. The Cortese grape is used to make Gavi, DOC since 1974 and DOCG since 1998. In the midst of so many reds for aging, a fresh and carefree white, to be consumed young, but capable of aging for a few years, never banal, always characterized by balance and elegance. In La Bollina's interpretation it expresses itself on tones ranging from fresh fruit to acacia honey, and in the mouth it is light, slender, pleasantly acidic on the finish. Tenuta La Bollina, once owned by the Marquis Figari of Genoa, extends over 120 hectares, 25 of which are vineyards, in the territory of Serravalle Scrivia (AL), in the Basso Monferrato. The Antica Villa Liberty has been transformed into a luxury hotel, and vineyards run along the holes of the adjacent golf course.
