In beautiful Tuscany, and more precisely in the picturesque town of Impruneta, a stone's throw from Florence, lies the Azienda Agricola Lanciola. This area is renowned for its scenic beauty and centuries-old winemaking tradition. The climate is naturally temperate and the soil, rich in minerals, offer ideal conditions for growing vines. Ricciobianco, made from 100% Chardonnay grapes, was born here. Here, the carefully cultivated vines are harvested early to preserve the freshness and vibrancy of the fruit. This approach also ensures that the typical characteristics of Chardonnay, such as fruity notes and good structure, emerge clearly in the wine. After harvesting, the grapes are pressed and the resulting must ferments for four months in French oak barrels. This not only adds complexity to the wine, but also gives it delicate notes of oak and vanilla. Malolactic fermentation follows, which softens the acidity and gives the wine roundness and smoothness. Finally, the wine matures in the bottle for six months before being put on the market. In the Ricciobianco glass it has an elegant light golden yellow colour. On the nose, the bouquet is rich and complex, with clear notes of yellow fruit such as peaches and apricots, enriched by hints of honey and yellow flowers. Delicate sensations of oak and vanilla integrate perfectly, adding depth to the wine. In the mouth, it is soft, fat and voluminous, with good acidity that lends freshness and liveliness. An extremely versatile wine, it easily accompanies a wide range of dishes. It goes well with elaborate fish dishes, such as a fillet of sea bass in an almond crust, or with delicate white meats. It is also excellent with vegetable-based first courses or creamy risottos.
Today we are at the Gates of Florence, but surrounded by greenery. A few kilometres from the city, in fact, on the undulating hills of Impruneta, near Pozzolatico, is the Azienda Agricola Lanciola. We are in the 'Colli Fiorentini' area, in the heart of Chianti Classico. Here the company can count on about 14 hectares, 10 of which are vineyards, with an optimal south-west exposure, on particularly suitable soils. We are about 300 metres above sea level and among the rows, in addition to the ever-present Sangiovese, there is also Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah, as well as the indigenous Canaiolo and Colorino.
