This is certainly not the 'usual prosecchino'. On the contrary, it is a little gem, an oenological gem produced by Nino Franco, one of the territory's most iconic producers. Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Brut originates in the heart of the Veneto region, where the hills are themselves masterpieces that the whole world envies us. Here there is ideal soil for the cultivation of Glera, the main variety of Prosecco. The slopes are sunny, the soil drains well and the microclimate is cool, characterised by mountain breezes and marine influences. These conditions naturally create an ideal environment for the ripening of grapes rich in aroma and flavour. Produced exclusively from Glera grapes, carefully selected from the vineyards in the medium and high hills of the classic zone, vinification is carried out according to the Charmat method, with re-fermentation in autoclaves. Pouring this sparkling wine into your glass, you will be amazed by the heady aromas. Hints of white flowers, apple, pear and citrus fruits create a delicate and persistent bouquet. In the mouth, freshness and sapidity, with fruity and floral notes. An elegant and refined sip that leaves a pleasantly clean and creamy sensation. Excellent as an aperitif, it is an ideal companion for hors d'oeuvres and first courses based on fish, vegetables and white meat.
In 2019 Nino Franco celebrated its 'first' 100 years. The date of birth of the historic winery in Valdobbiadene, in fact, is 1919. In the beginning, it was Nino's father, Antonio, who believed in the importance of making a quality product. And when control of the family business passed to his son, the path was already marked out. The definitive turning point, however, came with the third generation, that of Primo who, first with his father Nino, and later on his own, succeeded in giving the winery the inevitable modern approach. In the early 1990s, he took over a vineyard where he experimented with new planting techniques and the use of old clones. In the meantime, he continues his close collaboration with winegrowers in the area to develop his idea of enhancing the value of Glera. Flanking him in this difficult work today is his wife Annalisa and daughter Silvia, who supports their father in all production, strategic and commercial choices. From generation to generation, from father to son, the milestone of the first century has been reached all too soon. And good quality bubbles, we are sure, will continue to be the protagonists of the Franco winery for the next 100 years.
