Beautifully fragrant and inviting from the very first sip, the 2019 Langhe Sauvignon is a terrific and versatile wine that comes in handy for your late afternoon drinking needs as a summer sunset takes over an open sky. The bouquet offers pretty notes of exotic and tropical fruits that hit all the high notes. Open this bottle young to get the full and very pretty effect.
Sauvignon does well in Piedmont. Or so it seems when tasting this interesting white wine from Marchesi di Grésy. It is made from pure Sauvignon grapes from the company's vineyards in the Cuneo area. A fresh and intense wine. Perfect for an aperitif with friends or a special dinner, perhaps with some pleasantly spicy dishes. In fact, it is not lacking in material and it is not easy to put it in a difficult position. Super-traditional vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and maturation on its fine lees for no less than four months. The result is a wine characterized by a beautiful straw yellow colour, still furrowed by greenish reflections. On the nose the most typical notes of the varietal stand out, with tomato leaf and freshly cut grass. In the background, however, there are also evident flavours of ripe fruit such as peach, grapefruit and lychee. In the mouth it is pleasantly sapid, well structured and pleasantly complex. Great is its ageing potential. So basically, it's good today but can safely rest a few more years in the cellar. Two or three years of waiting will only make it even more interesting.
Tenute Cisa Asinari of the Marchesi di Grèsy. The name alone is enough to bring a certain awe. Here, in fact, we are looking at the true nobility of Piedmontese wine. A very long history that has its roots at the end of the 18th century when the Martinenga estate was donated to the Grèsy family. From then on, the history of the company tells of marriages, acquisitions and lots and lots of passion for the territory. The current Marchesi di Grèsy winery was officially founded in 1973. It was created to produce wine from the grapes of the Cisa Asinari estate, already a family property. Today the group has four separate estates, although the main one is still Martinenga, in the heart of Barbaresco. The others are those of Monte Aribaldo, in Treiso, La Serra, in Cassine, and Monte Colombo, also adjacent to La Serra. Today the company can count on a total of about 45 hectares of vineyards, distributed in different estates of the Langhe and Monferrato. Energy saving and reduction of environmental impact are two fixed points of the entire production.
