A certified organic wine, Domaine des Granges de Mirabel, from Maison M. Chapoutier, promises a wonderful sensory journey through the vineyards of the Côtes-du-Rhône. This area, characterised by clay-limestone and basalt soils, offers a unique environment for the cultivation of Viognier. A grape variety known for its intense aromas and its ability to reflect the terroir, it is particularly suited to the soils of the Ardèche, where it develops complex aromatic profiles with fruity and floral notes. The climate of the region, with hot, dry summers and mild winters, together with the presence of mineral-rich soils, allows the vines to develop in optimal conditions, bringing out their best varietal characteristics. The grapes are gently pressed and the must obtained is left to decant cold for about 48 hours. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats with indigenous yeasts, preserving the purity of the varietal aromas as best as possible. After fermentation, the wine matures in stainless steel vats to preserve its freshness and aromatic liveliness. To the eye, Domaine des Granges de Mirabel has a deep yellow colour, enriched with green hues. On the nose, fine and complex aromas with notes of apricot, pear and jam emerge delicately, creating an inviting and sophisticated aromatic bouquet. In the mouth, however, it is soft and fresh. Typical of Viognier, in this case the freshness is balanced by a nice softness, which makes the wine particularly pleasant and harmonious. A versatile wine, it can be served as an aperitif or accompany an entire meal. Suitable for seafood dishes such as oysters, prawns and scallops, it also goes well with salmon, both smoked and grilled.
The Chapoutier family has a home (and cellar) in the beautiful wine region of the Vallée du Rhône. For Michel Chapoutier, a passionate winemaker and keen advocate of exalting terroir, it is above all the natural elements that count: the soil, the roots, the vines and the fruit. In the cellar, as well as producing good wines, his aim is to bring out the differences and specific characteristics of each terroir.
