L'Enclos des Domaines Edmond de Rothschild Puisseguin-Saint-Émilion 2017
  • Puisseguin Saint Émilion is an AOC (French appellations of origin) located west of the charming town of St. Émilion. We are, of course, in the heart of the Bordeaux region, where some of the world's most prized and appreciated red wines come from. 750 hectares, hilly landscape, suitable for viticulture. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Merlot here lends elegance and aromatic richness to the wines. As in this case, where the producer, by the way, carries a name that is more than famous and respected in France and around the world. Domaines Edmond de Rothschild ages its wine entirely in barrels, part new and part used to achieve a pleasantly soft and spicy wine. A gritty and powerful red, this Puisseguin Saint Émilion knows how to be both complex yet smooth. A good wine today but certainly also suitable for long cellar aging. The ideal pairing? Grilled rib-eye steak. What else?

The Rothschild name has been linked to the French wine world since as far back as 1868, when James de Rothschild purchased the Chateau Lafite estate. However, it was his great-grandson, Baron Edmond, who acquired other estates in the Médoc region. It is 1973. We are talking about two fine "Crus Bourgeois" in Listrac and Moulis en Médoc: Château Clarke and Château Malmaison. Thus was born the "Compagnie Vinicole Baron Edmond de Rothschild," which, while maintaining a family dimension, initiated modernizations and innovations, expanding business far beyond the borders of France. Today, at the helm of the winery is the fifth generation of Rothschilds who continue to produce high quality wines that meet the highest quality standards. A winemaking enterprise, therefore, to be included among the most prestigious in the world.
