Cepparello is the highest expression of Sangiovese according to Paolo De Marchi, founder and soul of the Isole e Olena estate. Obtained from a rigorous selection of the best grapes from the hilly vineyards of Chianti Classico, this Toscana IGT ages for about 20 months in French barriques, a third of which are new, and stands out for its elegance, depth and stylistic precision. In the glass it has a brilliant ruby colour. The nose has a complex and enchanting bouquet, with notes of ripe cherry, violet, sweet spices and balsamic hints. On the palate it is powerful but measured, with silky tannins, vibrant acidity and a persistent and savoury finish. A wine of great balance and longevity, capable of evolving magnificently over decades. Recognised by international critics with excellent scores, it is today one of the most authoritative Sangiovese-based Supertuscans.
?Founded in 1956 by the De Marchi family, Isole e Olena was born from the union of two ancient villages located in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, between Florence and Siena. In 1976, Paolo De Marchi, a visionary winemaker, took the reins of the company, guiding it towards a qualitative revolution that contributed to the renaissance of Tuscan wine. Through innovative practices such as massal selection and soil mapping, he elevated Sangiovese to new heights, giving life in 1980 to the famous Cepparello, one of the first Supertuscans. Today, with 56 hectares of vineyards located at an altitude of between 350 and 450 metres, Isole e Olena continues to produce wines of extraordinary elegance and authenticity, representing a point of reference in the Italian wine scene.
