A firm, silky red with aromas and flavors of plums, cedar and fresh herbs. Medium to full body. Tight and pretty. Drinkable now, but better after 2020.
There is nothing more beautiful than testing the versatility of Sangiovese di Toscana, creating unusual and curious blends. In this case, Podere Montale offers Peposo (just because of its name, this bottle deserves to be tasted) a blend of Sangiovese, 80%, with Cab Sauvignon and Merlot in small portions, 10% each. The idea was to give an international touch to the undisputed Prince of Italian grape varieties, Its Majesty Sangiovese, with the noblest of international varieties. Without resorting to ageing in wood, but giving life to a simple and immediate wine. Good right out of the box and still drinkable within a few years. Peposo is a wine characterized by a beautiful ruby red color. On the nose, it can be described as "comegioioso", floral, with notes of violets, fruity, with hints of freshly picked fruit. On the palate, it impresses with its freshness and minerality, as well as a pleasant tanginess that makes it easy to drink. Warning! With a nice steak next to it, it can become addictive. Uncork at your own risk!
Podere Montale is a beautiful Tuscan winery that does not boast a hundred years of history. It was born in 2014, but can count on an accurate and interesting project. Born from an idea of Silvio Mendini who dreamed a farm focused on enhancing and preserving the 'biodiversity of the area in which it operates. The objective, in other words, is to create products that harmoniously reflect the land and the plant varieties of which the vineyard is an integral part. For this reason, all the wines offered are produced exclusively with grapes from the company's 18 hectares, cultivated with Sangiovese, of course, but also Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. All the plots are located near the winery, in Seggiano in the province of Grosseto, ranging between 250 to 450 meters above sea level.
