Champagne Mumm Millesimè 2015 comes from a blend of Pinot Noir for the vast majority, about 72 percent, and Chardonnay for the remainder. A prestigious vintage Champagne, it reveals beautiful complexity from the first sip. Thanks, of course, to the quality of the source grapes, which come from vineyards classified as Grand Cru in the Montagne de Reims, including Ambonnay, Mailly, Bouzy, Verzy and Mareuil-sur-Ay, and from the Côte des Blancs regions, with Oger, Avize and Cramant. This, combined with four years of cellar aging, makes Mumm Millesimè 2015 a sparkling wine characterized by incredible aging potential. Brilliant yellow color with golden hues, the nose is elegant, with seductive sweet fruity aromas and a hint of pear that is well perceived. Then hints of white flowers and delicious nuances of brioche, freshly processed butter and fresh hazelnuts. In the mouth, it is pleasantly fresh, with peach and plum aromas. Elegantly balanced, it surprises with length and a finish that brings to mind the good taste of pastries and buttery brioche. A surprisingly gastronomic Champagne, it easily accompanies a complete meal, from appetizers to main courses, fish or meat.
The history of Maison Mumm is long and fascinating. The official founding dates back to 1827, but the connection between the Mumm family and the world of wine goes back much further. As early as 1761, in fact, the family had started a wine production and trading business in Cologne, Germany, under the name "P. A. Mumm," named after the owner Peter Arnold Mumm. The company owned extensive vineyards in the Rhine region, where it produced its wines. At the beginning of the 19th century, Peter Arnold's three heirs, Gottlieb, Jacobus and Philipp recognizing the commercial potential of the extraordinary sparkling wines produced in the Champagne region of France, and thanks to the good relations between Germany and France at the time, made the bold decision to establish a new branch of the family business right in Reims, with the cooperation of a local representative. Today the vineyards owned by the Maison cover nearly 218 hectares. Pinot Noir dominates, with Chardonnay, especially in the Côte des Blancs, and Meunier, especially in the Vallée de la Marne. Of these, 160 hectares are classified as Grand Cru, located in eight historic villages whose grapes express all the authenticity of the best terroirs in the Champagne region: A?, Bouzy, Ambonnay, Verzy, Verzenay, Mailly, Avize e Cramant.
