      Champagne Brut "Grand Cordon" Mumm
    • Modern and elegant. There is no other way to describe this "Grand Cordon" Champagne, precious Brut proposed by G.H. Mumm. Elegant right from the bottle, finely decorated with the iconic red band that identifies all bottles from the historic House of Reims. Fresh and fruity, this NV Champagne is made from Chardonnay (30 percent), Pinot Noir (45 percent) and Pinot Meunier (25 percent) grapes from different crus in the region. The grapes, in keeping with tradition, are vinified separately to preserve the wide variety of aromas and flavors, and to give greater depth to the finished product, between 25 and 30 percent reserve wines from previous vintages are also added to the cuvée. The production process is long and complex. Every single step is essential to ensure the Cuvée's impeccable quality. In the glass, it has a beautiful golden yellow color. The nose smells of ripe fruit, with peach and apricot, hints of lychee and pineapple. In the mouth, however, it is an explosion of freshness. Excellent as an aperitif, to enjoy it at its best it should be paired with fish dishes, seafood or grilled fish.

The history of Maison Mumm is long and fascinating. The official founding dates back to 1827, but the connection between the Mumm family and the world of wine goes back much further. As early as 1761, in fact, the family had started a wine production and trading business in Cologne, Germany, under the name "P. A. Mumm," named after the owner Peter Arnold Mumm. The company owned extensive vineyards in the Rhine region, where it produced its wines. At the beginning of the 19th century, Peter Arnold's three heirs, Gottlieb, Jacobus and Philipp recognizing the commercial potential of the extraordinary sparkling wines produced in the Champagne region of France, and thanks to the good relations between Germany and France at the time, made the bold decision to establish a new branch of the family business right in Reims, with the cooperation of a local representative. Today the vineyards owned by the Maison cover nearly 218 hectares. Pinot Noir dominates, with Chardonnay, especially in the Côte des Blancs, and Meunier, especially in the Vallée de la Marne. Of these, 160 hectares are classified as Grand Cru, located in eight historic villages whose grapes express all the authenticity of the best terroirs in the Champagne region: A?, Bouzy, Ambonnay, Verzy, Verzenay, Mailly, Avize e Cramant.
