Laherte Frères, Coteaux Sud d’Epernay, Chavot
Proposed here by Maison Laherte Frères, the Champagne Rosé de Meunier Extra Brut is a wine of great character and personality that well represents the essence of Pinot Meunier. Made from grapes from the Chavot vineyards, this Rosé de Meunier Extra Brut is distinguished by its vibrant freshness, aromatic complexity and persistence on the palate. We are located in the Côte des Bar, a region renowned for its limestone and clay soils, which give the wines a robust structure and distinctive minerality. The sugar content of this Champagne is less than 6 grams per litre. It is therefore classified as Extra Brut, a typical style for the region, characterised by a distinct dryness on the palate and lively acidity. In the glass, it has a soft, brilliant pink colour. On the nose, it reveals a complex and fascinating bouquet, dominated by notes of red fruits, citrus fruits, white flowers and toasted bread. In the mouth, the wine is fresh and vibrant, with a fine and persistent bubble. On the finish, there is a pleasant sensation of freshness and savouriness. A versatile wine, it goes well with hors d'oeuvres of cured meats, main courses of meat and mature cheeses. Also to be tried with raw or marinated fish. Best drunk within 4 years of harvest, if stored correctly, it can evolve and gain complexity over time.
Maison Laherte Frères, located in Chavot in the Côteaux Sud d'Epernay, is a Champagne estate renowned for its dedication to biodynamic viticulture and the high quality of its wines. Aurélien Laherte, a talented winemaker and leading figure on the BIO Champagne scene, has been able to convert the family business, founded in 1889, to this philosophy, combining tradition and innovation. Today, the company can count on some 17 hectares of vineyards, along the Marne, south of Epernay and in the Côte des Blancs, terroirs suited to the cultivation of Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir grapes. The conversion to biodynamic agriculture has made it possible to enhance the naturalness of the terroir and to obtain grapes of the highest quality. In the cellar, spontaneous fermentation, the use of oak barrels and bâtonnage are favoured to enhance the aromas of the grapes and achieve a perfect balance between sugars and acidity. The result is wines that stand out for their purity, complexity and minerality. Vibrant freshness and elegant structure are common characteristics of all the cuvées, which offer a variety of aromatic and taste nuances.
