Alto Adige DOC, Pasithea Oro is 100% Gewürztraminer. Incredible grapes from a single vineyard located in Montiggl, near two small alpine lakes in the province of Bolzano on Monte di Mezzo. And it is precisely the particular conformation of this vineyard that annually contributes to the development of the so-called noble rot, a 'good' rot that makes it possible to create great sweet wines. But let us proceed with order. The harvest is carried out by hand, in small containers. We are at the end of November and, after a short maceration and whole cluster pressing, the must is fermented for about 6 months in small oak barrels. At the end of this phase, before the wine is finally ready, it is left to mature, again in small oak barrels, for another 15 months. Brilliant gold in colour, this intriguing passito has aromas of dried fruit, ripe apricots, quince and a fresh hint of citrus. On the palate, however, it is soft and full, with an accentuated sweetness and a persistent finish. Pasithea Oro is a dessert wine par excellence. It accompanies the whole meal, from blue, mature and spicy cheeses to desserts. And, if you wish, it can also be offered as a meditation wine, to be sipped slowly while you stay up late and chat.
23 must be a lucky number. At least in South Tyrol. Yes, because in 1923, the Girlan Winery was founded and, as chance would have it, it was founded by 23 winegrowers. Cabal aside, the winery is located in a historic 16th century farmhouse. Behind these traditional walls and in the intricate corridors of the cellar, the secrets of cutting-edge wine-making technology and the ideal conditions for ageing the wines are now hidden. Vineyards in the best production areas of the Oltradige and Bassa Atesina, all worked with great dedication. The oenologist responsible for the creation of the wines is Gerhard Kofler, who personally maintains contact with the winegrowers and provides advice during the most delicate phases of the season. The result is here to be experienced. Wines of the highest quality, divided into three distinct lines: Le Selezioni, I Vigneti and I Classici.
