For lovers of the aromatic grape variety par excellence, this wine cannot be ignored. Because it comes from the pure processing of a grape variety that has gold in its name - Gold - and the powerful charge of the Traminer. "Definitely 'irreverent'," reads the Lagertal company website, "because it is the fruit of an absolutely innovative grape variety, obtained by crossing the vine flowers of Traminer with those of Tuscan Trebbiano. A new variety created in the mid-1950s by Rebo Rigotti. Precious and rare vines precisely because they are destined for targeted harvests and the production of an equally special wine. They ripen on the basaltic slope of Reviano, rich in sunshine on the right bank of the Adige. In the cellar, the grapes undergo white vinification, with light maceration in the press, followed by fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperature. At the end of this phase, the wine matures for 6 months in contact with the yeasts, again in steel tanks. This Goldtraminer in the glass appears straw yellow in colour with golden highlights. On the nose, the aromas are persuasive, refined, with fruity notes reminiscent of peach and floral notes of rose. In the mouth, however, it is appropriately savoury and persistent. Excellent as an aperitif, vegetable starters, fish and crudités. To be enjoyed young, to enjoy immediate sensations, or to be rediscovered after some proper cellar ageing. The choice is yours. Will you be able to resist temptation?
Nestled in the province of Trento, Vallagarina, Lagertal in German, defines the last stretch between the mountains of the valley crossed by the Adige river. Here, where the Southern Alps impose themselves for the last time with peaks from 1,000 to 2,000 metres, before descending towards the Po Valley, a long history has favoured settlements, villages and castles. It is in this enchanted corner of Italy that the Zago family has set up its farm with vineyards in Reviano, a small village known for being a moraine plateau that favours the growth of grapes, giving a special flavour to the wine. From here, among other things, there is a spectacular view over the entire valley and you can admire the magnificent Adige River flowing through the vines. Lagertal extends over 2 hectares, at an altitude of 450 metres. The total annual production is about 25,000 bottles, obtained in full respect of traditional methods and selecting only the best raw materials, to guarantee quality and balance to the final product.
