23 must be a lucky number. At least in South Tyrol. Yes, because in 1923 the Girlan Winery was founded and it just so happened that 23 winegrowers founded it. Cabal aside, the winery is housed in a historic 16th century farmhouse. Behind these walls of ancient tradition and in the intricate corridors of the cellar, the secrets of state-of-the-art winemaking technology and ideal conditions for ageing wines are hidden today. A lot of water has passed under the bridge. And of wines in those cellars. Today, 200 winegrowers are involved in the Girlan project, spread over a vineyard area of around 220 hectares. Vineyards in the best production areas of the Oltradige and Bassa Atesina, all worked with great dedication.
