  • It's probably suggestive. But the colour of this wine is really reminiscent of the coral that decorates its label. It is called Aka and it is a Salento IGT rosé, produced with pure Primitivo grapes. Bunches of grapesfrom very old plants that reach over 40 years of age. Historic vineyards that produce little but mostly produce well. After the harvest, which usually takes place towards the end of August, the grapes are quickly brought to the cellars and sent to a maceration phase that lasts about 8 - 12 hours. Conventional wisdom calls them the "wines of one night". It takes little for the Primitivo to yield that beautiful and evocative nuance of colour. The scent is captivating. Intense notes of fresh cherries, pomegranate, red apple, wild strawberries and raspberry. In the mouth, however, it is a fresh but well-structured wine. Crunchy, we could call it, but also savoury and decidedly (pleasantly) long.

    Produttori di Manduria is the oldest cooperative still active in Apulia. Today the company can count on 900 hectares of vineyards, mainly cultivated with Primitivo grapes, mostly cultivated with the traditional gobelet system. There are more than 400 small artisans-winemakers who, thanks to their deep knowledge of this ancient vine, have earned the mention of "Masters in Primitivo". In 2018, the first in Italy with 8 other pioneers, the winery obtained the certification of "Sustainable Company". Over the years there has been no lack of national and international recognition for the company's wines. The quality of their products, after all, is an objective fact.
