    Barolo DOCG Brunate 2020
  • We have written it many times: Barolo lovers are not looking for a simple wine... they want to experience a territory. And with this Barolo Brunate DOCG, the result is assured. A time-defying masterpiece born on the hills of the Langhe. A monumental wine that comes from the area of Castiglione Falletto, 250 metres above sea level. A unique terroir, characterised by limestone-clay soils and a south-eastern exposure that maximises sunshine. The Brunate vineyards, in particular, enjoy an exceptional microclimate, with warm days and cool nights that favour a perfect ripening of the grapes. In the countryside, old vines between 50 and 60 years old are able to yield grapes that are concentrated and rich in extracts. The result? A deep, elegant and long-lived wine. Manual harvesting and careful selection of the ripest and healthiest bunches. Fermentation and maceration take place in stainless steel for about 25 days, at a controlled temperature, preserving the freshness and vivacity of the aromas. Malolactic fermentation follows, which softens the tannins and gives the wine a more harmonious profile. Ageing in 20-hectolitre French oak barrels for about 30 months then gives Oddero's Barolo Brunate DOCG complexity, elegance and a long capacity for evolution. A ruby colour that takes on garnet hues with ageing, the nose seduces with a bouquet reminiscent of roses, violets, wet earth and ripe red fruit. With age, tertiary hints of spices, liquorice, leather and truffle emerge, enhancing the aromatic complexity of the wine. In the mouth, monumental structure and refined elegance. Vibrant acidity and powerful yet velvety tannins create a harmonious and persistent sip. The finish is long and satisfying.

The Oddero wine estate is an authentic natural terrace embracing the heart of Piedmontese oenology. Here, the vineyard is more than just a cultivation. It is rather a tradition, handed down from generation to generation. A family heritage that must be preserved and enhanced. The Oddero family vineyards are scattered on the slopes of the most prestigious hills. Here, in the best positions, or 'sorì' as they are known locally, the symbolic vines of the region ripen: the noble Nebbiolo, the beating heart of Barolo and Barbaresco, Moscato, and Barbera. "Poderi e Cantine Oddero" are a historic brand in the wine world. Today, the reins of the company are in the hands of Mariacristina and Mariavittoria, daughters of Giacomo Oddero, a legendary figure in the Piedmontese wine scene. The Oddero's oenological philosophy is a perfect fusion of tradition and innovation.
