      Barolo DOCG 2019
    • A Barolo of great value, the one offered here by Ceretto is made from pure Nebbiolo grapes from some of the best Barolo crus. A historic company, Ceretto has always been committed to producing wines of the highest quality. In this case, the grapes come from vineyards located about 300 metres above sea level, in the heart of the Barolo production area. The soil here is characterised by calcareous and clayey marls, which give the wine structure and complexity. Made from organically grown grapes, vinification takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks, with a long maceration on the skins and a delicate extraction. Refinement involves a one-year stay in French oak tonneaux and a year in large oak casks. Then, after bottling, the wine rests in the cellar before being put on sale. An elegant and complex wine, Barolo Ceretto DOCG is ruby red in colour with garnet highlights. The nose has elegant aromas of small red fruits, raspberry, currant, wild strawberry, morello cherry, floral nuances of violet, dried flowers and hints of spice. On the palate it is intense and structured, with ripe tannins and complex, persistent aromas, leading towards a long, pleasantly refreshing finish. Good right from the start, this Piedmontese red is capable of maturing well in the cellar for up to 5-10 years. When uncorked, we will discover a perfect wine to accompany red meat dishes, game, mature cheeses and cured meats. Elegance, complexity and structure.

The Ceretto winery was founded in the 1930s. At that time, Riccardo Ceretto, who owned no vineyards, made wine by buying grapes from others. The turning point coincided with the entry into the company of his sons Bruno and Marcello, who were immediately convinced of the importance of 'owning' one's own land. Bruno and Marcello had in mind the vineyards of Burgundy where excellent wine had been produced for more than a century thanks to a model that took into account the peculiarities of each vineyard. In the 1960s, Bruno and Marcello therefore began to map out the land from which the best wines came and to buy vineyards. And they would never leave the land again. To their sons, Bruno and Marcello have handed over a masterfully preserved territory that has become a model for the eyes of the world over time.
