    CHARACTERISTICS
    • TypeVino rosso fermo
    • Location Piedmont
    • Grapes Nebbiolo 100%
    • Sensations Following tradition, Barolo Mirafiore is produced by blending wines from different vineyards. The choice of vineyards may vary depending on the characteristics of the vintage. The wine is blended as soon as malolactic fermentation is complete. The long maceration and reduced racking during ageing allow the development of tertiary aromas to be anticipated even before bottling. The colour is garnet red, with good intensity. The bouquet is reminiscent of spices such as nutmeg, bay leaves, black pepper, ripe red fruit and black liquorice. In the mouth it is an important wine, with powerful and harmonious tannins and a very fresh acidity that favours a very long finish.
    • Vinification Fermentation is traditional, carried out in stainless steel vats for 12-15 days at a controlled temperature. The wine remains on the skins for a further 30-40 days, to optimise the extraction of the polyphenolic substances. Barolo Mirafiore is aged for two years in oak barrels of medium and large capacity (from 2,000 to 14,000 litres). At the end of the second year, the wine undergoes a further period of bottle ageing before being released for consumption.

Love the aromas of dried strawberries, dust and hazelnuts, which turn to flowers. It’s full-bodied with firm, silky tannins. Polished and creamy with a beautiful, compact finish. Pretty texture. Better after 222.

    • Wine Enthusiast 93

Delicate aromas of forest berry, new leather, violet and camphor waft out of the glass. Elegantly structured, the savory palate doles out strawberry compote, crushed raspberry and star anise alongside bright acidity. It's full bodied but the lithe tannins and the freshness give it an almost weightless feel. Drink through 2026. KERIN O’KEEFE

      Barolo DOCG 2019
    • We are in the heart of the Barolo region. Here the main grape variety is obviously Nebbiolo, used in purity by Mirafiore to produce this elegant Barolo DOCG. The grapes come from a careful selection of vineyards located in the municipality of Serralunga d'Alba, medium and high hillside plantings, with excellent exposures to the south, southwest and west. The soils, needless to say, are typical of the Langa, with a clear prevalence of clay and calcareous marl. Fermentation is traditional and takes place in stainless steel vats, lasting 12-15 days at a controlled temperature. This is followed by a long stay of the wine on the skins, "a cappello sommerso", for a further 30-40 days. This phase is crucial as it allows a perfect extraction of the polyphenolic substances from the grape skins. At the end of the vinification process, Barolo Mirafiore matures for two years in oak barrels of medium and large capacity, and then undergoes a further period of refinement in the bottle before being released for consumption. The long maceration and limited racking carried out during refinement allow the development of tertiary aromas to be anticipated even before bottling. In the glass, therefore, the wine has a beautiful garnet red colour and good intensity. The nose is reminiscent of spices, such as nutmeg and black pepper, aromatic herbs, such as bay leaves, and ripe red fruit. In the mouth it reveals itself to be an important wine, with powerful and harmonious tannins and a marked acidity that results in a very long finish. It is ideal with red meat dishes and medium or long aged cheeses. True enthusiasts, however, do not miss the opportunity to sip a glass at the end of a meal, perhaps while chatting and tasting a sliver of excellent dark chocolate.

Mirafiore is a historic winery in Italy. It was founded in the second half of the 1800s by Emanuele Alberto Guerrieri, Count of Mirafiore, son of the first King of Italy. Its estates are located in a unique environment, where the vines grow slowly, sinking their roots deep in search of water and nutrients. The result is grapes that are highly concentrated in aromas and flavours that expert winemakers know how to manage to express themselves at their best. Today, the company can count on 25 hectares of property in the communes of Serralunga d'Alba, in the Fontanafredda sub-zone, and in Barolo. Vineyards of medium and high hills, with an altitude between 300 and 480 metres above sea level. Since 2018 Casa E. di Mirafiore has become an Organic Farm, thus proving that it has not only a history of more than a hundred years but also an open vision towards the future.
