Lovers of Barolo, and of good wines in general, this is a bottle that really should not be missed. Because it is offered by Damilano, which has been an absolute protagonist of the Langhe for more than a century, but above all because the label bears the word Cerequio, which immediately brings to mind one of the area's most beautiful panoramas. Cerequio, in fact, one of the MGAs envisaged by the Barolo production regulations, is an amphitheatre of vineyards on the balcony of the Langhe. We are in the commune of La Morra, in an area particularly protected from cold winds, with soils that give tannic, robust, powerful wines. In this case, Damilano's rows of vines are about 320 metres above sea level, with an eastern exposure. Plants over 20 years old, capable of producing bunches of rare quality. After slow maturation in the cellar, this Barolo is a beautiful garnet red colour in the glass, with orange reflections produced by ageing. Fruity notes, with cherry in clear evidence, and the typical violet, which in this case is accompanied by balsamic, vanilla and liquorice hints. In the mouth it is intense, elegant and persistent. Red fruit, tobacco and leather with age. A great Barolo that requires a great pairing. Of the territory, of course.
