      The Damilano 2016 Barolo Liste is released one year later compared to its peers. It shows beautifully chiseled intensity, impressive depth and length. A lot of dimension and energy are locked within this bottle. The Liste (a cru located in the village of Barolo) offers fruit tones and spice, but the flavor profile of this well-structured wine is best described as mineral driven and etched.     • Liste is a sub-zone of the prized Barolo area. One of those small, restricted areas that, due to quality and historicity, can be indicated on the label. This is done by the Damilano winery, in particular, one of the celebrities of the Langhe. The grapes, as they should, come from the Liste cru in the commune of Barolo. We are about 350 metres above sea level, with a beautiful south and south-east exposure. Old vines, covering an area of about two hectares. Intense garnet red colour with a few orange reflections, the nose reveals a great Barolo, characterised by a fine and elegant bouquet, with hints of berries, liquorice, tobacco and cocoa. In the mouth it is dry, full. Decidedly full-bodied and persistent, it is an austere yet velvety red. The long ageing in large barrels makes this Barolo a world champion of longevity. Well stored, in a cool, damp cellar, it is not afraid to age for years. Even decades. The advice? You must have at least one box of this wine. In this way, you will be able to uncork a bottle every now and then, gradually appreciating the precious work of time on its delicate aromas. On the table, it accompanies important dishes. Excellent with meat and game in particular. Also perfect with medium, long-aged cheeses.

      Damilano is one of Barolo's historic wineries with ancient traditions. Over a hundred years old, even. In fact, the Damilano family's activity dates back to 1890, when Giuseppe Borgogno, great-grandfather of the current owners, began cultivating and vinifying the grapes he owned in the commune of Barolo. However, it was with the next generation, with Giacomo Damilano, the founder's son-in-law, that the winery took on its current name. Since 1997, his grandsons have been at the helm of the fine Langa winery. Guido, Mario and Paolo Damilano carry on the work of their ancestors with commitment, making the most of the Langhe's main grape variety, Nebbiolo, and the most suitable vineyards. But the secret of the high quality of Damilano wines is to be found in the vineyards, located in the elective areas for the production of Nebbiolo grapes, such as the Cannubi, Liste, Brunate and Cerequio Cru.
