Amarone is a wine made for those who love to appear. Those who are not satisfied with a good bottle but seek only the best. But, it has to be said, Amarone often runs the risk of being overdone. Difficult to match and too concentrated to be placed in the middle of a beautifully set table. For this reason, many prefer a good Ripasso to Amarone for a convivial occasion. Like this one proposed by the historic winery in Marano di Valpolicella which, among other things, is labelled as Classic, i.e. produced with grapes from the best area of Valpolicella, and Superiore, which identifies a wine of superior quality (and a slightly higher alcohol content than the standard). Valpolicella Ripasso DOC Classico Superiore Collezione Pruviniano, offered here in a generous magnum version, is made from 60% Corvina, 15% Corvinone and Rondinella grapes and a mix of other authorized grapes for a total of 10%. In the glass it has a beautiful deep ruby red color. On the nose it is characterized by a fine and fruity aroma. on the palate, then, it is appropriately warm, thanks to the alcohol present and well integrated. Full-bodied, persistent, with lively tannins and a pleasant aftertaste of dried fruit, nuts and toasted almonds. Serve at room temperature but not too hot. The result will simply be guaranteed. A success!
A historical organization of Valpolicella. A social winery, that of Valpolicella Negrar, founded in August 1933 by "six local gentlemen" who joined together in a company to defend the territory from speculative investments. The aim, now as then, is to get directly to the consumer with products bottled in full respect of the local winemaking tradition. A tradition that the members of the winery cherish and safeguard with religious respect. Few people remember it, but it is precisely to the Negrar winery that we owe the origin of Amarone. It was 1936. Today the winery can count on about 600 hectares of vineyards, distributed in different areas of Valpolicella Classica (but not only) and cultivated by about 230 members. It boasts a wide production of wines awarded by international critics, a project to safeguard the environment and above all a line of high quality wines, the Domìni Veneti, which are exported all over the world. So much water has passed under the bridge since that distant August of 1933. And how much wine has been produced since then (and certainly enjoyed with satisfaction).
