    • Grapes Nebbiolo 100%
    • Sensations Colour: pale ruby with light garnet notes. Bouquet: ethereal with very personalised sweet spice notes that combine well with fruity and floral hints. • Vinification Vinification: maceration with the skins in steel vats at controlled temperature for 20-25 days, starting with cold maceration (10 °C) during the first 48 hours. During this period, a very soft extraction is carried out with only a couple of daily pump-overs. The wine is then drawn off and malolactic fermentation takes place in steel tanks. Subsequently, around December, the wine is put into small oak barrels, 30% new and 70% second and third passage, where it remains to mature for a total of 24 months. After being decanted into stainless steel, the wine can be bottled without filtration or clarification.

      "Gattera" Barolo DOCG 2018
    • It originates in one of the most fascinating geographical mentions of the Barolo appellation. We are in the commune of La Morra. Here, at the foot of the historic cedar of Lebanon that dominates the hillside, Mauro Veglio cultivates about 2.5 hectares of vineyards facing south-east and south-west, on calcareous and clayey soils rich in microelements. And this is where Barolo DOCG Gattera is born, in an ideal position, where the temperate climate of the Langhe favours the full ripening of Nebbiolo. The vines, planted in the early 1950s and trained using the Guyot method, produce generous bunches that are selected by hand. The subsequent vinification initially involves maceration on the skins in steel tanks for 20-25 days, starting with a cold phase to preserve the aromas. After alcoholic fermentation, malolactic fermentation is also carried out, again in steel, followed by ageing for at least 24 months in French oak barriques, at least 30% of which are new and the remainder second and third passage. Finally, to maintain the integrity of the wine, it is bottled without any filtration or clarification. A pale ruby colour with garnet highlights, typical of young Barolos with potential for evolution, the nose reveals an ethereal and complex bouquet, with notes of sweet spices, ripe red fruits and a delicate floral undertone. In the mouth it is warm and enveloping, with a structured body and soft tannins. The finish is balsamic and generous. Good already today, this Barolo can easily evolve for over 20 years, acquiring further complexity and harmony. Perfect with red meats, braised meats, game and mature cheeses. For lovers of terroir pairings, it can be served with a dish of agnolotti al plin or a classic Barolo braised beef.

Mauro Veglio: the evolution of Barolo in the tradition of the Langhe. In the hills of La Morra, the historical Barolo area, lies the Mauro Veglio winery. It was Angelo, in the 1950s, who started the family business, betting on sustainable agriculture and viticulture focused on excellence. He was followed by Mauro, heir and innovator, who, starting in the 1980s, embarked on a path of renewal that helped change the very face of Barolo. With the help of his wife Daniela and, later, his nephew Alessandro, Mauro introduced modern techniques and a stylistic vision inspired by the great wines of Burgundy. Shorter macerations, French oak barriques used with balance and maniacal care in the vineyard and cellar have resulted in more elegant, fresh and accessible wines, without ever betraying the typicality of Nebbiolo. For more than 20 years, Mauro Veglio has also adopted organic practices, refusing the use of chemical herbicides and promoting natural techniques such as sexual confusion for pest control. Plants and flowers grow between the rows, enriching the soil and favouring the balance of the ecosystem, while anti-hail nets protect the grapes from the effects of climate change.
