    "Timoteo" Gattinara DOCG 2015
  • We are located in the Gattinara area, in the province of Vercelli. This region is renowned for its unique soils, characterised by the presence of large blocks of quartz and porphyry with a characteristic red-brown colour. These soils, of ancient volcanic origin, are rich in minerals and give the wines unique characteristics. A fine example of this is this Gattinara DOCG Timoteo di Gaggiano, 100% Nebbiolo, which finds an ideal environment in Gattinara to best express its characteristics. Known for its ability to produce wines of great elegance and longevity, Timoteo di Gaggiano is certainly no exception. After the harvest, the grapes are soon delivered to the cellar where they are destemmed and crushed. This is followed by fermentation in steel, with frequent pumping over to favour the extraction of the noble substances from the skins. Maceration lasts between 15 and 22 days, allowing the wine to acquire colour, noble tannins and complex aromas. Lastly, malolactic fermentation, which takes place the following spring, contributes to making the wine softer and rounder, dampening the acidity and accentuating the hints of ripe fruit. Intense ruby red colour, almost garnet, the nose perceives notes of ripe red fruits, such as cherry and blackberry, accompanied by floral hints of rose and violet, and a touch of sweet spices and tobacco. An elegant and austere wine, it has well-defined tannins that offer a solid and balanced structure. Timoteo has a remarkable capacity for ageing. If well stored it can reach up to 20 years, developing tertiary aromas of leather, cocoa and undergrowth, while maintaining its great drinkability.

Gaggiano is a fine winery rooted in the vine-covered hills of Upper Piedmont, where Nebbiolo reigns supreme. The winery's history is deeply linked to that of the Fabris family, made up of great passion, handed down from generation to generation. It was grandfather Gervasio, a skilful winemaker who from an early age involved his grandchildren in the grape harvest, letting them press the grapes barefoot in the vats for fun. From these happy memories, combined with the value of family and the desire to honour grandfather Gervasio's legacy, the family's current commitment was born, with the ambitious goal of producing great red wines with appellations such as Gattinara DOCG, Bramaterra DOC, Lessona DOC and Coste della Sesia DOC.
