    "Gervasio" Bramaterra DOC 2018
  • The one proposed here is certainly not the 'usual' Piedmontese red. It is, in fact, a small oenological gem from a relatively well-known corner of the region. We are talking about Bramaterra DOC Gervasio, a tribute to the founder of the Fabris family, founder of the Gaggiano winery. We find ourselves among the vine-covered hills of Upper Piedmont. Even here, far from the hills of the Langhe, Nebbiolo reigns supreme. Gervasio di Gaggiano is a structured red wine made from a blend of grapes: 80% Nebbiolo, 10% Vespolina and 10% Croatina. All grapes come from vineyards located in the municipalities of Lozzolo (VC), Villa del Bosco and Sostegno, in the province of Biella. Sandy and rocky soils of volcanic origin with a red-brown colour give the wine unique characteristics: minerality, structure and complexity. Bramaterra DOC Gervasio presents itself in the glass with a beautiful intense ruby red colour, with garnet hues. The nose offers a complex and elegant bouquet, with notes of ripe red fruits, spices, liquorice and tobacco. In the mouth it is structured, soft and pleasantly spicy, with well-integrated tannins and a lingering finish. This red has excellent ageing potential. Good already today, if stored well in the cellar it can easily reach 20 years, developing tertiary notes of leather, chocolate and truffle over time. Gervasio is perfect with red meats, roasts, stews and mature cheeses. An ideal companion for great occasions and for lovers of intense, long-lived red wines.

Gaggiano is a fine reality that has its roots in the vine-covered hills of Alto Piemonte, where Nebbiolo reigns supreme. The winery's history is deeply linked to that of the Fabris family, made up of great passion, handed down from generation to generation. It began with grandfather Gervasio, a skilful winegrower who from an early age involved his grandchildren in the grape harvest, letting them press the grapes barefoot in the vats for fun. From these happy memories, combined with the value of family and the desire to honour grandfather Gervasio's legacy, the family's present-day commitment was born, with the ambitious goal of producing great red wines with appellation, such as Gattinara DOCG, Bramaterra DOC, Lessona DOC and Coste della Sesia DOC.
