CORVEE SRL - LOCALITA' BEDIN 18 - 38034 CEMBRA LISIGNAGO (TN)
When the valley is a distant memory and the mountain peaks seem so close as to give the idea of being able to touch them... When these conditions occur... the winegrower must show all his tenacity. And necessarily the grapes must be able to withstand simply extreme conditions. In such cases, the right grape variety is the Rhine Riesling. In the Cembra Valley, the ideal conditions for its cultivation can only be found at the highest altitudes. And it is precisely here that Corvée produces its Famèi, from a 'daring' vineyard 790 metres above sea level. The harvest, of course, is manual and takes place in the first ten days of October. In the cellar, we begin with a soft pressing of the bunches in an inert atmosphere, followed by a gentle static decantation of the must. This is followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks, followed by ageing on the lees for about 10 months in second and third passage French oak 'tonnaux'. Famèi presents itself in the glass of a beautiful straw yellow colour with golden hues. The nose is faintly bergamot, with aromas of wisteria and jasmine. On the palate, faint hints of flint, moss and mountain pine resin combine with the concentration and clarity of the Cembra porphyry soils. The aftertaste combines sweetness and freshness. A white characterised by great elegance, typical of the high Dolomite peaks.
Corvée is a wine project that speaks of the Cembra Valley, enhancing the specificity of grapes rich in character, cultivated with effort, wresting land from the mountains, with terracing supported by dry stone walls. A few members, four to be precise, a lot of dedication and a common idea, that of making great mountain wines. To do this, in the cellar (and before that in the vineyard) they combine traditional knowledge with the most modern winemaking techniques. All to make the most of what nature is able to bestow. Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewürztraminer, Rhine Riesling, Pinot Noir, Lagrein and Schiava are the varieties cultivated, each at a different altitude. This gives rise to the lines of 'structured high altitude' wines, between 400 and 500 metres, the 'high altitude bubbles', Trento Doc, between 500 and 600 metres and the 'elegant high altitude', between 600 and 700 metres.
