"Le Puche" Zagarolo DOC Bianco 2023
  • Le Puche is a Zagarolo DOC, son of the rolling hills surrounding Rome and an all-Lazio cut. Malvasia del Lazio Puntinata, 70%, and Trebbiano Giallo the remainder. The vineyards are located about 300 metres above sea level, enough to enjoy a mild climate, thanks to a constant wind that helps to make even the hottest days more bearable. The grapes undergo white wine vinification at a controlled temperature, and the wine produced is aged for about four months in steel containers before being bottled. The result is a beautiful, not excessively intense straw yellow colour. The scents are intense and fruity. Reminiscent of pear and peach, it evolves into refined sensations of acacia honey. In the mouth it is fairly smooth and fresh. Right body and excellent balance between all its components. It is a wine to propose during a dinner where the flavours are delicate. Excellent with vegetable soup, it also goes well with fish or white meat dishes. In short, it certainly doesn't lack versatility. Let's put it to the test!

"We put our family name on the bottles, and we want everything to be done our way." This could be the slogan of the Federici winery in Zagarolo, in the province of Rome. Founded in 1960 by the grandfather of the current owners, Antonio Federici. It was a company sprung from Italy's boom years, of the 'dolce vita' and of that subtle carefree attitude that we probably dream of today. 2001 marks the turning point. It was the moment when it was decided that, in order to produce with the right quality, it was also necessary to start growing their own grapes and manage their own vineyards directly. This was done by starting from the typical vines of the territory such as Trebbiano, Malvasia del Lazio, Malvasia di Candia and Grechetto, with Montepulciano and Sangiovese, alongside international vines such as Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. Mission accomplished. Federici's wines represent the ideal combination of tradition and that touch of novelty necessary to revive it. Today, the vineyards, part belonging the company and part belonging to historical vintners linked to the Federici Company by long-term agreements, are worked according to the guidelines established by Franco Bernabei, who coordinates the team of agronomists and oenologists, supervising the progress of the work. This is how the wines that collect awards and recognition from Italian and international wine guides are born.
