Sant'Antimo DOC Costa Colonne. This is the name of the latest wine from the famous Mastrojanni winery in Montalcino. A profoundly territorial and pleasant red that is made from Sangiovese grapes for the most part, to which small percentages of Ciliegiolo and Cabernet Sauvignon are added. A red wine with a fresh and fruity profile produced from grapes harvested in the estate's beautiful vineyards located at an altitude between 200 and 420 metres above sea level, with good southern exposure. The grapes are fermented separately in cement vats and after processing the wines are left to mature for about 12 months, partly in cement vats and partly in large oak barrels. Bright ruby red in colour, the nose reveals a pleasantly fruity character, with notes of ripe red fruit and intriguing floral returns. In the mouth, however, what is most striking is the softness of the tannin, silky and velvety. An easy red to pair, it pleasantly accompanies both pasta and meat-based main courses. When you say 'a wine for the whole meal'.
Azienda Agricola Mastrojanni is located in Castelnuovo dell'Abate, at the southern end of the municipality of Montalcino, in the province of Siena. The home of Brunello, an artistic and architectural heritage immersed in the splendour of a nature with a high wine vocation. Founded in 1975, well before Montalcino was what we all know today, today the winery covers 109 hectares, 40 of which are planted with vines, 17 of which are Brunello. The vineyards are between 8 and 41 years old, with altitudes ranging from 190 metres to 410 metres above sea level. Vineyards face south-east, with dense plantings, designed to obtain the highest quality. Moreover, despite the fact that the Brunello DOCG regulations impose a limit of 80 quintals per hectare, yields on the estate never exceed 50 quintals. Sangiovese, as it should be, is the absolute protagonist of Mastrojanni wines, declined in different labels. With him Cabernet Sauvignon Moscato, Malvasia di Candia and Sauvignon Blanc.
