Amarone. The story of a lucky mistake. The most famous of the Valpolicella wines, in fact, was born from a mistake. From a barrel of Recioto forgotten in the cellar for the winter, giving time for the yeasts to eat all the sugar contained in the wine. Those who tasted it thinking they would find a sweet wine were amazed by the Amarone of that nectar. How good was that? The Amarone della Valpolicella proposed here by Luciano Arduini is the child of a fertile land, of passion and of a lot of hard work in the cellar. It is the symbolic wine of the winery, the one that is most proudly presented. The cut is Corvina 60%, Corvinone 20%, Rondinella 15% and Molinara for the remaining 5%. After vinification, refinement begins in barriques and continues in large Slavonian oak casks, where it is left to mature for about 24 months. Then, before marketing, it is left to rest further in the bottle for a few months until it reaches the right balance. In the glass it is a beautiful, intense ruby red colour with purple nuances. In the mouth it immediately reveals its character and the stuff it is made of. Structured and decisive on the palate, it is warm, soft, velvety and very persistent. Good today, it is a wine that is not afraid to age. In the cellar it knows how to wait patiently for the right occasion to be uncorked. It must be a special evening, where on the table there are dishes of great depth. Excellent with game, it is also perfect to accompany a very long after dinner session. A piece of chocolate, in that case, is all it takes to do it justice.
