The Tittoni vineyard enjoys a splendid panorama and bears the name of an unforgettable figure for the municipality of Vidor. To Cav. Carlo Tittoni, in fact, are owed schools, streets and, indeed, a beautiful vineyard with an ancient Casera. Here the aura of the Piave valley and ideal exposure give the grapes, aromaticity and sweetness. This is where Tittoni Dry, Rive di Vidor, Valdobbiadene DOCG is born. The vineyard covers an area of about 2.6 hectares and lies at an altitude of about 240 metres above sea level. Grapes are harvested when fully ripe, and as soon as they reach the winery they are quickly sent to fermentation, which, in this case, takes place very slowly. The same slowness also characterises the subsequent frothing, with the yeasts slowly releasing a carbon dioxide that becomes almost creamy and persistent. The result is a sparkling wine characterised by a beautiful, brilliant, straw-yellow colour with golden highlights. In the glass, the perlage is persistent and fine-grained. The bouquet is complex and velvety, with hints of ripe yellow apple, yellow plum. Then white flowers, with predominance of white rose, and a light spiciness that lends balsamicity. In the mouth, it is intense and noble in structure, with a perfect correspondence to what was previously perceived. On the table it goes well with delicate dishes such as fillet of sea bream or milk-fed sirloin. Also good with classic tuna tartare.
La Tordera is a family-run winery in the hills of Valdobbiadene. Today it is run by three siblings, Renato, Gabriella and Paolo Vettoretti, supported by their parents Pietro and Mirella. The company, however, dates back to the early 1900s, when great-grandfather Bepi, back in 1918, planted the first vines and began personally tending the vineyard. In 2018, this important anniversary was celebrated: '100 years of Vines and Life'. The name 'La Tordera' comes from the name of a gentle hill in the Cartizze area. This hill once housed a roccolo, commonly called Tordera where, in the autumn season, thrushes would descend from the nearby mountains in search of food among the rows of vines. Always attentive to innovation, at La Tordera the link with the land and its traditions has never been forgotten. Today, the farm seeks an increasingly green viticulture in harmony with the environment.
