Champagne "Veuve Clesse Black Label" Brut
  • A bottle that stands out. A Champagne with good character. We are talking about Veuve Clesse Black Label Brut, offered here by Maison J. Charpentier, a Champagne company known for its focus on quality and winegrowing tradition. The vineyards are located in Villers-sous-Chatillon, an area with excellent potential for the cultivation of typical grape varieties. This Champagne is mainly made from 95% Pinot Meunier, with an addition of 5% Pinot Noir. To the eye, Veuve Clesse Black Label Brut presents a beautiful straw yellow colour with golden reflections and a fine, persistent perlage. The nose immediately reveals intense citrus aromas, with hints of candied fruit and slightly toasted notes. On the palate, however, this Champagne is balanced and rounded, with a pleasant smoothness that invites one to savour it. The finish is also soft and pleasantly persistent. A fresh wine, not excessively complex, it is especially appreciated in the first five years after production. Perfect to accompany hors d'oeuvres and fish or white meat dishes. The important thing is that they are not overly structured so as not to run the risk of overpowering the wine.

The history of Charpentier Champagne began more or less around the 1920s, thanks to the union of two historic 'vigneron' families, the Charpentiers and the Claisse. In 1971, Jacky Charpentier, armed with just under half a hectare of vineyard but full of courage and enterprise, launched his first Champagne branded "J. Charpentier" onto the market. In 1987, an automatic temperature control system was installed, an almost absolute novelty at the time. Today, Jacky's children, Jean-Marc and Marie-Pierre, run the company with the same passion they inherited from their father.
