Soc. Agr. I LORI SS. Strada Provinciale Cori-Norma - 04010 Cori (LT)
Today we are in the heart of Lazio, and more precisely in Cori, in the province of Latina. Here we find the Azienda Agricola I Lori. Situated 350 metres above sea level, the estate benefits from a unique microclimate, characterised by the protection of the Lepini Mountains and the gentle sea breeze that caresses the vines. This combination of climatic factors allows the grapes to ripen in a balanced way, developing an aromatic complexity and structure that are reflected in the wines produced. Lazio Rosso IGT Poggio Santa Lucia is made from 100 per cent Nero Buono grapes, an indigenous grape variety of Latium known for its ability to produce robust and intense wines with deep colouring and distinctive aromatic richness. Vinification, in red, involves frequent punching-down and daily pumping-over for approximately 15-20 days at a controlled temperature, a process that allows for the perfect extraction of tannins and aromatic compounds. After fermentation, the wine is matured on the noble lees for about 90 days, a step that enriches the body and complexity of the wine. It then matures for about 2 months in second-passage French oak barrels, where it acquires delicate woody notes. Finally, it is bottled and left to refine in the bottle for a further 120 days before being released for sale. To the eye, Poggio Santa Lucia shows an intense ruby red colour. The nose is elegant and fruity, with clear notes of cherry and morello cherry dominating the aromatic profile. In the mouth, on the other hand, it is rich and full-bodied, rightly tannic but never aggressive, offering a nice structure and pleasant persistence. The balance between tannins, acidity and fruit is excellent, making the tasting of this wine decidedly satisfying.
Passion and tradition in the heart of Lazio. This is I Lori, Azienda Agricola, an extraordinary example of dedication and love for the land. Established in 2010 in Cori, in the province of Latina, it initially made a name for itself by producing extra virgin olive oil of the highest quality. Over time, however, the company quickly conquered the market thanks to its philosophy based on meticulous care of the plants and respect for nature. Cori is a charming village located between the Lepini Mountains and the Tyrrhenian Sea, an ideal environment for the cultivation of olive trees and vineyards. The Lepini Mountains offer natural protection against frost, while sea breezes caress the crops, creating a perfect microclimate for the growth of healthy, vigorous plants. In 2018, Gambero Rosso recognised the excellence of I Lori's oil, awarding it the 'three leaves' and listing it among the best in Italy. The same year also saw a significant turning point for the company, which decided to undertake wine production as well. Starting with two typical local grape varieties, Nero Buono and Bellone. Today, the I Lori estate has 25 hectares of olive groves and 12 hectares of vineyards.
