"Pollùce" Nero Buono Lazio IGT 2024
    • Volcanic hills and a rich wine tradition. This is Lazio, one of the many Italian wine regions that deserve to be discovered and appreciated. Here you can find little wine treasures such as Pollùce by Cantine Cincinnato, a wine that tells the story and the passion of a unique territory. It originates in Cori, about 50 km south of Rome. Here the Cincinnato vineyards are located on hills, at altitudes between 200 and 250 metres above sea level. Here the volcanic and clayey soil is ideal for viticulture. Pollùce, Lazio IGT, is made 100% from Nero Buono grapes, a native variety grown almost exclusively in the Cori area. Its origins are shrouded in mystery but it is certain that this variety has been present in the area since ancient times. This vine is known for its ability to produce wines with an intense colour, fruity aromas and a balanced tannic structure. The harvest takes place between 25 September and 5 October, when the grapes have reached optimal ripeness. Fermentation at a controlled temperature, followed by ageing in stainless steel to preserve the freshness and aromatic integrity of the grape variety. In the glass Pollùce has an intense ruby red colour with violet reflections. The bouquet is intense and fragrant, with notes of ripe red fruits and floral scents. On the palate it is delicate and harmonious, with an elegant complexity and good persistence. The tannic structure is soft and well integrated, making the wine pleasant and versatile. Pollùce goes well with savoury first courses, grilled red meats and aged cheeses.

Founded in 1947, Cincinnato is a wine cooperative located on the slopes of Cori, an ancient village in Lazio. With over seven decades of experience, the company is now a prominent player in the regional wine scene, standing out for its commitment to promoting native grape varieties and the local area. Today the cooperative has 105 members, mostly families from the rural community of Cori, who cultivate a total of 550 hectares of vineyards and olive groves. This cooperative structure has made it possible to preserve centuries-old traditions and promote sustainable and environmentally friendly viticulture. One of the most important aspects of Cincinnato is the recovery and promotion of native vines such as Nero Buono and Bellone. This is thanks to the particular territory of Cori, which offers a variety of soils ranging from volcanic to clayey to sandy.
