      "Riccionero" Pinot Nero Toscana IGT 2021
    • A great international vine, a great Italian territory. What can come out of a meeting like this? Obviously a great wine. Just like this Riccionero, a Pinot Noir from Tuscany that defies convention. We are in the hills of Impruneta, in the heart of Tuscany. This is where Riccionero was born, a structured red wine capable of revealing the versatile soul of this noble grape variety. The bunches, hand-picked at the right degree of ripeness, are quickly delivered to the cellar to begin the delicate transformation phase. After destemming, the must ferments at a controlled temperature in steel tanks. The wine then matures for 18 months in second-passage oak barriques, acquiring complexity, structure and harmony. In the glass, it has a beautiful intense ruby red colour with garnet reflections that herald a wine of great character. The nose reveals a complex and elegant bouquet, where notes of ripe red fruits, sweet spices, liquorice and hints of violets stand out. An unexpected harmony that surprises and conquers. In the mouth, finally, Riccionero amazes with its structure and elegance. The sip is full and enveloping, dominated by silky tannins and a lively acidity that gives freshness and persistence. The fruity flavours evolve into spicy and toasty notes, creating a long and satisfying finish with a lingering mineral aftertaste.

      Today we are at the Gates of Florence, but surrounded by greenery. A few kilometres from the city, in fact, on the undulating hills of Impruneta, near Pozzolatico, lies the Azienda Agricola Lanciola. We are in the 'Colli Fiorentini' area, in the heart of Chianti Classico. Here the company can count on about 14 hectares, 10 of which are vineyards, with an optimal south-west exposure, on particularly suitable soils. We are about 300 metres above sea level and among the rows, in addition to the ever-present Sangiovese, there is also Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah, as well as the indigenous Canaiolo and Colorino.
