Bottled by Hans Rottensteiner SRL – Bolzano, Italy
Produced in Italy
In Alto Adige it is called Blauburgunder. For us Italians it is more simply pure Pinot Noir. A great wine produced by Hans Rottensteiner from grapes harvested, by hand, in the company vineyards overlooking the Alps. A wine of great finesse and elegance. Vinification in stainless steel, fermentation at controlled temperature and maturation in large oak barrels. The result is a wine characterized by an intense ruby red colour. The nose is pleasantly fruity, with clear memories of ripe red fruit but still crunchy. Morello cherry, raspberry and blueberry. The same fruity sensation can be found in the mouth. Then a slight fresh streak and moderate but still perceptible tannins. A wine with good structure but above all a perfect balance between all its components. Try the traditional South Tyrolean dishes.
Never mind that the name is of clear German origin. The Hans Rottensteiner winery is 100% South Tyrolean and has been deeply tied to its territory since its foundation in 1530. A family business, the winery has been run by several generations of winemakers. Today, it is Hannes who takes over the role of winemaker, leaving his father Anton in charge of the vineyard. The estate is located near Bolzano, in a very suggestive alpine valley. Rows of grapes, fruit trees and ancient farms. The Rottensteiner family cultivates mainly autochthonous grapes, such as Schiava and Lagrein. Nearly ten hectares of property, not a few for the area, conducted with passion and full respect for nature and the environment, which are joined by another 75 trusted local suppliers. And if the grapes are of the highest quality, in the cellar the most modern wine-making technologies do the rest. The wines of the beautiful South Tyrolean winery are here to be tried.
