Weingut Tiefenbrunner Via Castello 4 - Niclara 39040, Cortaccia sulla Strada del Vino (BZ)
This Pinot Noir belongs to Tiefenbrunner's Turmhof line. A red wine that originates in the hills of South Tyrol and whose name, ‘Turmhof’, refers to an ancient castle that dominates the Tiefenbrunner estate. The grapes used to produce this Pinot Noir come from selected vineyards. Optimally exposed plots that extend over several slopes, reaching heights of up to 900 metres. The soil here is characterised by a great variety of elements: it ranges from clay soils of moraine sediments to gravelly and sandy soils. This diversity contributes to a complex and multifaceted wine. Here, Pinot Noir expresses its finesse and great elegance at its best. The vinification of Turmhof Pinot Noir takes place in cement barrels, where the grapes ferment on the skins for an extended period. Subsequently, the wine matures in wood, both in barrels and large casks, to acquire complexity and harmony. If to the eye this Pinot Noir shows an intense ruby red colour with garnet hues, the nose reveals a pleasant, fruity aroma with notes of blackberries, raspberries and cherries. In the mouth it is soft, balanced and persistent, with fine tannins and a pleasantly long finish. Perfect with white meats such as chicken and turkey, it also goes well with rabbit and pork. Try it with semi-matured cheeses and tasty first courses.
Today we find ourselves in the rolling hills of Alto Adige, where the historic Tiefenbrunner winery is located. A name that, for wine lovers (Italians and others), immediately evokes wines of extraordinary elegance and complexity, the fruit of centuries of experience and profound knowledge of the territory. For more than a century and a half, the Tiefenbrunner family has handed down their passion for wine-growing from generation to generation, carefully cultivating their vineyards and selecting the finest grapes. Today, it is Christof Tiefenbrunner who runs the company together with his wife Sabine. Seventh generation of a dynasty that has made quality its trademark. The winery is based in Niclara, in an ancient 12th century fortress surrounded by a vast park that seems straight out of a fairy tale. Here, among century-old plants, a pond and sculptures from the late 19th century, time seems to stand still. But Tiefenbrunner is not only an enchanted place. It is also an avant-garde company that constantly invests in research and innovation. The winery is equipped with a hydroelectric power station that guarantees energy self-sufficiency, testifying to a strong commitment to environmental sustainability. Today, the winery can count on more than 25 hectares, spread over different terroirs that give the wines a wide range of aromas and nuances. In addition to its own vineyards, the company also works with other winegrowers in the area, selecting only the best grapes.
