Great things happen when men and mountains meet. This phrase by William Blake, published on the website of the Carranco winery, sums up well what is not a simple winery. It is he dream of two great men of wine that met in a moment of their lives and gave life to something unique and unrepeatable. Carranco, in fact, was born in 2018, from the collaboration between Borgogno and Tornatore. The oldest winery in Barolo and one of the very few native producers. A marriage of history, authenticity and experience. We are on the north side of Etna, considered the most suitable territory for the growth and production of the great wines of the volcano. The vineyards are located about 500 metres above sea level, within the 'Contrada that gives its name to the company. Eight hectares of vineyards, cultivated with the native vines of Etna, and therefore mainly with Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio and Carricante. The vineyards are old, on average 50/60 years old, still cultivated with traditional systems and conducted with modern methods of sustainable agriculture. Gobelet vines of extraordinary beauty, planted on small terraces on the slopes. The result is fruit of extraordinary concentration from which wines with unmistakable personality and character are obtained.
