    An IGT wine from Basilicata, the 2018 L'Atto is a popular choice that is celebrated locally. The wine represents a pure expression of Aglianico grapes that have been worked in such a way as to preserve the primary character of the fruit. Indeed, you get lots of cherry and black currant here. You also get distinct volcanic tones of scorched earth and campfire ash. This is a simple red wine from Southern Italy with plenty of character and power. Pair this with a Podolica steak, from a breed of domestic cattle from Southern Italy. Some 150,000 bottles were produced.

  • Aglianico is defined as the King of the vines of our South. A rich grape capable of surviving in climates that to define them simply as hot is almost an understatement. Precisely for this reason, Aglianico is often assimilated to a powerful wine, structured and difficult to deal with. Cantine del Notaio's Atto is a wine designed, on the contrary, to make this great grape variety easier to approach. An Aglianico that does not hide its origin and does not lose its personality but at the same time knows how to be simpler and more immediate. The right wine for those who want to approach this grape variety without risking being overwhelmed by it. In the glass it is a beautiful pale ruby red colour. A symphony of crisp red fruit and sweet spices emerges on the nose. Pleasant sensations that are confirmed even after the first sip. In the mouth, in fact, it is enveloping and soft. Fruity and agile. A chalice that never lasts.

    Cantine del Notaio's history is relatively recent. A company with close links to the figure of its founder, Gerardo Giuratrabocchetti, a graduate in Agricultural Sciences and determined to relaunch the image of Lucanian wines in the world. A demanding challenge that Gerardo decided to face after spending part of his life away from fields, vineyards and wine cellars. A dream definitely come true thanks to the collaboration of Luigi Moio, from the University of Naples, today the winery's oenologist. The headquarters of Cantina del Notaio is located in Rionero in Vulture, inside an old family palace where there are also some ancient caves, now used as aging cellars for the powerful wines produced by the company.
