Mature dark-skinned berry, tobacco and a whiff of new leather lead the nose on this smooth, medium-bodied red. On the chewy palate, polished tannins accompany dried Marasca cherry, cassis and ground black pepper. Drink through 2023. KERIN O’KEEFE
The label is the one that Feudi offers for all its Selections. Minimal and elegant, in this case it has a colour reminiscent of burgundy. Maybe it's just suggestion, but when you look for it on a shelf, physical or virtual, its silhouette immediately jumps to the eye. Aglianico Dal Re, on the other hand, is certainly not made to go unnoticed. A pure Aglianico, it is tamed with about 6 months in French oak barriques and then, before being released to market, it rests a few more months in the cellar. First in steel and then in the bottle. It takes time for this indomitable southern grape to reach the right maturity. Bright ruby red, the nose recalls scents of small red fruits, such as black cherry and raspberry. With them liquorice and the ever-present sweet spices. In the mouth it is soft and balanced, with soft tannins that give it a long aromatic persistence. An interesting red. A wine that can be experimented with a thousand different pairings, from soups and vegetable soups, to tasty and seasoned pastas, such as a delicious grandmother's lasagna, to classic red meat dishes. We set the limits. In our imagination.
There is a subtle fil-rouge that unites everything that has been done at Feudi di San Gregorio since its inception in 1986. It is the desire to make the most of the priceless heritage of indigenous grape varieties of Campania tradition. Starting with Greco, Fiano and Aglianico, the true regional flag bearers. Today the company can count on a total of 300 hectares of vineyards, divided into over 800 plots that differ in altitude, exposure and slopes. A marvellous natural puzzle that perfectly expresses the biodiversity of the territory and is able to give life to extraordinary cru. It is currently one of the leading wineries in Southern Italy, with exports covering more than 50 countries worldwide. The experience gained over the years has therefore led the Capaldo family, who have always been the mind and soul of the company, to decide to explore the winemaking potential of other regions of Italy. This is how the "Tenute Capaldo" project was born, which includes a complex of wineries ranging from DUBL, also from Campania, to Campo alle Comete in Tuscany, passing through Basilisco, an organic winery in Vulture, Ognissole, a biodynamic winery in Puglia, Sirch, in the Colli Orientali del Friuli, and finally FedeGraziani, a small jewel on the slopes of Etna. They all share the same values: to produce wines of excellent quality while respecting their territory.
