      "Bascià" Rosso Salento IGP 2021
    • It's called Bascià and, technically, it's a red wine of Italy. It is one of those products that, even though it does not have a specific denomination, tells the story of its territory of origin better than many others. Bascià is produced from a blend of different indigenous Salento grapes, including of course Primitivo and Negramaro. All grapes come from ancient local vineyards, still bred to sapling, where every process requires skill and hard work. The grapes are harvested slightly overripe, that is, after they have reached the perfect state of ripeness but before they wither and dehydrate excessively. This guarantees a great concentration of sugars in the must from which a rich and structured wine will be produced, pleasantly warm and deeply Apulian. Ageing in barrique for a period of about 12 months guarantees elegance and complexity on the nose and in the mouth.

In the heart of Salento, land of great wines, and more precisely in the locality of San Marzano is the Notte Rossa winery. Here the vines are those of the Primitivo di Manduria from which wines of great personality are obtained. The company vineyards are located in the most suitable areas of the Salento peninsula. Hectares of vineyards, mainly with native grapes, arranged in different plots that enjoy different exposures and soils. The white grapes come from the hilly and basically clayey areas in the north of Taranto, in the upper Salento, at about 150 metres above sea level. For the reds, such as Primitivo and Negroamaro, the choice falls on plots of land located further south, areas of red soil, limestone and sand, where the old trees have lived for decades with the shrubs of the Mediterranean.
