There is all the charm of Sicily in this red wine proposed by Colosi. The warmth and sun of the islands of the Aeolian archipelago from which the grapes come, and the power of two great native Sicilian vines. This Salina Rosso IGT is made from Nerello Cappuccio and Nerello Mascalese. Grapes rich in aromas and sugar that are processed with wisdom and transformed with a traditional vinification. The process ends with a period of maturation in large casks for six months, followed by at least another six in stainless steel tanks. The result is a red wine characterised by a beautiful ruby colour, with an intense bouquet reminiscent of ripe red fruit, but also of cherry and sour cherry, all enhanced by hints of vanilla, black pepper and aromatic herbs. In the mouth, however, it is warm but balanced. Justly tannic, it guarantees a very long persistence. Excellent with meat dishes and medium-aged cheeses.
For over 40 years, the Colosi family has been cultivating vineyards on charming terraces overlooking the sea of Salina, the small island of the Aeolian archipelago, a land highly suited to the cultivation of vines. 10 hectares between Capo Faro and Porri, one of the areas considered among the best, both for exposure and for the nature of the soil. Vineyards on old terraces, obtained by restoring old dry-stone walls, where the typical varieties of the island are grown, from Corinto Nero, Nerello Cappuccio, Nerello Mascalese, Inzolia, Catarratto and Malvasia. Malvasia, in particular, is the main grape variety in the entire wine production of the territory and of the Colosi company. Colosi's production is centred on indigenous grapes from the archipelago but also from Sicily, thanks to twenty-year collaboration contracts with selected Sicilian producers.
