"Molino a Vento" Syrah IGP 2021
    • When it comes to wine, Sicily is not just a region. Due to its vastness and variability, it is more like a continent. There are dozens, if not hundreds, of indigenous grape varieties, that is, typical only to this region. But also large plots of land cultivated with international varieties that here, thanks to an incredible climate and a great variety of soils, generally succeed in producing wines of great quality. Like this Molino a Vento Syrah IGP proposed by Tenute Orestiadi, which is characterized by being fresh, young and full of energy. It is the result of a simple and accurate processing that begins with a maceration phase that lasts for about two weeks. The refinement that follows fermentation takes place in steel tanks and is completed, just before bottling, with a quick passage in wood for 2/4 months. The result is a wine characterized by the typical intense ruby red colour, with obvious violet hues. On the nose, hints of violets and currants, with hints of liquorice and the inevitable black pepper that distinguishes every good Syrah in purity. In the mouth, finally, it is soft and has beautiful harmonious and well-integrated tannins. The finish is pleasantly toasty and spicy. Let's put it to the test next to particularly tasty and delicious dishes such as a tempting carbonara.

Tenute Orestiadi was founded in 2008. Located in Sicily. And to be precise in that enchanted corner marked by a long and troubled history as the Valle del Belice. Here in 1968 a terrible earthquake devastated everything, razing centuries of civilization and dreams to the ground. From the ashes of that terrible episode, in Gibellina, in a corner of Sicily where viticulture meets art, the Orestiadi Estates are found. A mosaic of vineyards of great beauty characterized by completely different terroirs, with rich and varied characteristics. Here the best native varieties of the island grow and thrive, enhanced by careful processing, to bring to the main world markets all the good things of Sicily. In 2018, thanks to a close sharing of values, and the same love for the territory, a collaboration with La Gelsomina, an interesting reality on Etna, began.
