"Decauville" Syrah Terre Siciliane IGP 2023
    • From the heart of Sicily, and more precisely from the area of Pachino in the province of Syracuse, comes this Terre siciliane IGP Syrah Decauville, a small jewel proposed by the Feudo Rudinì wine house. The star vine of this wine, Syrah, is an international variety that finds in the land of Sicily an ideal environment to express its full potential. The Mediterranean climate, mitigated by sea breezes, and the mineral-rich soil give 'Syrah di Pachino' a unique profile, characterised by aromatic complexity and a distinctive tannic structure. After harvesting, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by a period of bottle ageing that allows the wine to reach its full maturity. In the glass, this Syrah has an intense and deep colour, reflecting its concentration and vitality. On the nose, complex and intriguing notes, with aromas of ripe red fruits, spices and hints of undergrowth. In the mouth, it is distinguished by its softness and elegance, with an enveloping and persistent tannic texture that entices with every sip. Excellent with grilled meats, roast red meat or wild boar. Also perfect with mature cheeses such as Sicilian pecorino.

Long before the advent of the cherry tomato, the Pachino area was characterised by the green expanses of bush-trained vineyards. And it is to this land that the story of Saro Di Pietro, the 'cantiniere', founder of the Rudinì winery, is linked. In 1969, Saro was a must seller. As a taster, sitting at the 'scagno' in the central square of Pachino, he judged the musts of local vintners which, once 'promoted', could take the road to northern Italy where they were used to enrich local wines. In 1972, Saro Di Pietro bought the Rudinì palmento from Count Corrado Moncada di Paternò and built a modern wine cellar there, focusing everything on Nero d'Avola. A more than apt choice, we might say today.... After all, Pachino has always been considered the cradle of Nero d'Avola and an area of origin of great red wines. An area that enjoys absolutely unique pedoclimatic conditions. Located at the southernmost point of Europe, at the southernmost tip of Sicily, facing the Mediterranean and the African coast. Rudinì draws its grapes from over 200 hectares of the most qualified vineyards around Pachino. In addition to the prince of Sicilian wines, Nero d'Avola, the Rudinì wine range includes Chardonnay, Inzolia, Syrah and Merlot. International grape varieties that have, however, found an optimal habitat in Sicily.
