Sicilia DOC Benuara by Cusumano is a blend of Nero d'Avola and Syrah. A wine that tells the story of Sicily through a skilful blend of two grape varieties. A combination that gives life to an intense and fruity red wine, an authentic expression of the territory. The vineyards where Benuara comes from are located at about 300 metres above sea level, in a hilly area characterised by clayey soil. Nero d'Avola, a native Sicilian grape, gives the wine structure, tannins and hints of ripe red fruit. Syrah, on the other hand, brings spicy and aromatic notes. The wine-making process begins with the removal of the stems and the cold maceration of the skins. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature with frequent pumping over and punching down, to extract colour and aromas from the skins. Finally, 80% of the wine is aged in steel tanks and 20% in 20-hectolitre oak barrels. Benuara has a compact ruby red colour. On the nose, black cherry and wild berries blend with spicy notes of black pepper. In the mouth it is fresh, soft and harmonious, with well-integrated tannins. This blend is designed to be appreciated in its youth, perfect to accompany red and grilled meats. Try it with pasta with meat sauce and aged cheeses.
Cusumano has quickly established itself as one of the most dynamic and innovative companies on the Italian wine scene. Founded in 2001 by brothers Alberto and Diego Cusumano in Partinico, in the province of Palermo, the company has quickly gained a leading role thanks to the combination of tradition and modernity in the production of its wines. The Cusumano philosophy is based on a deep connection with the territory, enhancing the peculiarities of each wine-growing area to best express the characteristics of the native and international grapes grown. Today, the company owns about 520 hectares of vineyards distributed in different areas of the island, each with specific peculiarities that influence the quality and character of the wines produced. Cusumano's ability to combine tradition and innovation is also reflected in the design of the labels and in the brand's communication, characterised by a modern and captivating style. This approach has contributed to making the company's wines recognisable and appreciated both in Italy and abroad. The last aspect concerns the company's attention to environmental sustainability. Cusumano is in fact certified by SOStain and VIVA, programmes that promote sustainable agricultural practices and respect for the environment.
