Tenuta di Angoris srl - Località Angoris 7 - 34071 CORMONS (GO)
Colli Orientali del Friuli DOC Chardonnay, Spiule, by Tenuta di Angoris. A small oenological jewel from the heart of Friuli. The Colli Orientali are characterised by a varied landscape. Morainic hills alternate with alluvial plains and hilly areas. This variety of soils, combined with the influence of the nearby sea, gives the wines produced here a unique minerality and freshness. But let us proceed in order. The name ‘Spiule’, in Friulian, means ‘spigolare’, i.e. to harvest the ears of wheat left over after the harvest. A meaningful name that evokes peasant tradition and love for the land. In Friuli, Chardonnay can count on an ideal terroir that allows it to express great aromatic complexity and intense minerality. A pure Chardonnay, this Angoris white is vinified partly in steel and partly in wood, to give it greater structure and complexity. After an ageing period of 12 months, the wine is blended and refined in the bottle for a further 14 months. This long ageing process allows the wine to reach its full maturity. Spiule presents itself in the glass with a brilliant golden yellow colour. On the nose, the bouquet is intense and complex, with notes of ripe peach, yoghurt, custard and mineral hints. In the mouth, it is dry, savoury and rounded, with lively acidity and a lingering minerality. A versatile wine, Spiule is suitable for a variety of occasions. Perfect as an aperitif, it also pairs well with fish dishes, shellfish, white meats and fresh cheeses. Thanks to its structure and complexity, however, it can also accompany more structured dishes. Try it with a seafood risotto or with classic Sunday chicken.
Tenuta di Angoris has been in the municipality of Cormons since 1648, the year in which the Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand III of Habsburg thanked Locatello Locatelli for his service in the 30 Years' War by donating 300 fields in the area known as “Langoris”. Today, it is Marta Locatelli who runs the family business, thanks to the collaboration of oenologist Alessandro Bologna, who is in turn assisted by a dynamic and cohesive staff. The Tenuta's 75 hectares of vineyards are located in the most suitable areas for regional viticulture (DOC Friuli Isonzo - DOC Friuli Colli Orientali - DOC Collio). The Angoris Estate started a long time ago on a path aimed at respecting the environment and natural resources. Since 2017, in fact, they have been able to boast S.Q.N.P.I. recognition - Sistema di Qualità Nazionale Produzione Integrata (National Quality System for Integrated Production) - an agri-food production system that uses all means of production and defence of agricultural production from adversities, aimed at minimising the use of synthetic chemical substances and rationalising fertilisation, in compliance with ecological principles.
