Pinot Grigio Friuli Colli Orientali DOC 2023
  • In the North East, and in particular in Veneto and Friuli, Pinot Grigio has always been considered a wine of great interest. This vine, perhaps not everyone knows, derives from a mutation of Pinot Noir and loves cool climates. In Friuli, in particular, Livio Felluga cultivates it on the slopes of the hills, its ideal habitat. The raw material is of a high standard and careful vinification succeeds in making the most of it. Felluga's Pinot Grigio, in particular, stands out for its finesse and elegance. It is no coincidence that it is one of Felluga's most popular wines in the world. After fermentation, the wine is kept on its lees in stainless steel tanks for six months. This helps to make it richer and more complex. Brilliant yellow with pinkish and auburn highlights, this white surprises with the complexity of its aromas. A powerful, rich and multifaceted bouquet. It ranges from orange blossom to wisteria. From apricot, percoca, to melon and yellow peach. All made even more inviting by a slightly sweet sensation of custard. In the mouth it is rich and crisp. Full and progressive. There is a perfect aromatic correspondence with what was first perceived on the nose with, in this case, also a nice freshness and a pleasant savouriness to make everything more balanced. The finish is fresh and very persistent, with an aftertaste of citrus and white fruit. An easy wine to pair, it is especially recommended with fish dishes, shellfish and vegetable pies.

You can love them, or not. You may be a fan of the great whites of Friuli, or you may not appreciate them fully. But when you read the name Livio Felluga on a bottle, it is certain that the wine you are about to taste deserves our full attention. After all, he, Livio Felluga, has always been considered the great "patriarch" of quality wine production in Friuli. In the 1950s, he founded his winery in Brazzano and, with felicitous intuition, purchased his first vineyards in Rosazzo. Today the company boasts a respectable extension. Hilly land, in the Collio and Colli Orientali del Friuli, for over 160 hectares of property, of which 155 are planted with vines. Its wines, appreciated all over the world, have received the most prestigious prizes and awards over the years.
