"Ceròu" Pinot Grigio Friuli DOC 2022
  • Friuli DOC Pinot Grigio, produced in San Floriano del Collio, in the province of Gorizia. It is proposed by the Ascevi Luwa winery, a medium-sized family business strongly rooted in its territory. 100% Pinot Grigio, therefore, from estate vineyards with yields per hectare between 80 and 85 quintals. Good selection, therefore, and great care in bringing only the best grapes to the cellar. Here, vinification takes place exclusively in steel, with soft pressing of the grapes, cold static decantation and subsequent fermentation for about 20 days at a controlled temperature. At the end of the transformation, the wine undergoes ageing, again in steel tanks, for about 6 or 7 months until bottling. In the glass one discovers a wine characterised by a brilliant straw-yellow colour with light golden reflections. On the nose, the bouquet is floral, with notes of citrus and white-fleshed fruit. In the mouth, on the other hand, one discovers a wine characterised by a fresh, mineral, medium-bodied flavour. A beautifully fresh white, this Pinot Grigio 'made in Friuli' is perfect with aperitifs, delicate first courses and even meat and fish main courses.

Azienda Agricola Ascevi Luwa is located in a magnificent landscape among vineyards, cherry trees and acacia woods, close to the border with Slovenia. We are in San Floriano del Collio where, in 1972, Mariano and his wife Loredana planted the first vines. Today the company can count on modern winemaking, storage and bottling facilities, and no less than 30 hectares of vineyards, in the DOC Collio and Friuli Isonzo areas. A family business, the children Walter and Luana also join the team, each with their own role. The Collio vineyards are located at an altitude between 150 and 250 metres above sea level, on soil consisting of stratified marl and sandstone of Eocene origin, called ponca. It is from here that the winery derives most of its production, with white grape varieties. The Friuli Isonzo vineyards, on the other hand, are located in the flat area immediately near the Collio, called Rive Alte, on the left bank of the Isonzo river. White and red grape varieties are grown here.
